Biomet Metal-on-Metal Hip Replacement Lawsuits

Introduced in 2004 after an expedited review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA"), the Biomet M2a Hip Replacement device has since been linked to numerous serious side effects including metallosis, a condition resulting from elevated levels of metal ions being introduced into the bloodstream.  Several lawsuits have already been brought against Biomet alleging high levels of cobalt measured in patients with metal-on-metal hip implants such as the M2a Magnum.

Elevated introduction of metal particles into the body from the Biomet M2a Magnum can result in a litany of serious health complications. Additionally, the fraying of metal fragments from the Biomet M2a hip implant can result in failure of the device within just a few years of hip replacement surgery thus requiring painful and complex hip replacement revision surgery.  You may be at risk for replacement or revision surgery in suffering from:

The serious problems and alarming dangers inherent in the Biomet M2a hip implant, as well as other metal-on-metal prosthetics, has prompted the FDA to convene an advisory panel to conduct a detailed study of these devices which could eventually result in a full recall of these devices.  In 2012, a panel of health experts expressed their opinion to the FDA that there are few viable reasons to continue sanctioning the use of metal-on-metal hip implants.  This position is consistent with other recent conclusions expressed in the British Medical Journal, The Lancet Medical Journal, and Health Canada.

If you, or one you know, has had hip replacement surgery that may have involved the Biomet M2a Magnum system and has experienced problems listed above, you are urged to contact a Biomet Hip Replacement Lawyer at Audet and Partners, LLP at (800) 965-1461, or complete the online form to the right to request a free, no-obligation Biomet Hip Implant case review.
