PET OWNERS' GUESTBOOK AND MEMORIAL PAGE: We have been contacted by dozens of people who have lost their pets due to Menu Foods alleged negligence. We are pet owners too, and we sympathize fully with you. It could just have easily been one of us.
We understand your loss and know that nothing can make it better. The purpose of this guestbook is so that you can share your story with others, and maybe put up a photo or two.

My beautiful, beloved 6 year old, Norweigan Forest cat, Winston died in mid December from acute renal failure. We took him to the vet after he started drinking whole bowls full of water and rapidly loosing weight. The same day that his bloodwork came back, we took him back to vet where he spent 5 days on IVF. The vets were shocked that a healthy indoor young cat fell ill so quickly. We did not know about the recall at that time. Sadly, his blood values did not improve and we took him home where we administered subQ fluid injections every night for 3 weeks. My sweet, dear kitty didnt make it and we had to have him put down. He suffered so much. I fed Winston three brands on the recall list and 1 that has not yet been recalled. All the food I fed him was the sliced meat and gravy style because that's what he liked best. I am devastated. To think that my sweet baby kitty was poisoned by food I gave him, makes me feel like my heart is slowly being ripped out. I can't stop crying. Why did this happen?

Mandy came to us about three years ago after her 85 year old caretaker passed away. She became the alpha cat immediately and intimidated our two other cats - maybe because of her twenty pounds and staring eyes.
We noticed that her appetite had gone away and took her to the vet - this was on March 2nd and we thought she had a tooth ache. She was diagnosed with kidney failure and started treatment. She was retested on March 13, 2007 and she had worsened. We had to put our dear Mandy to sleep that day.
I never thought about the pet food recall until today when Hill's Prescription Food was added to the list. She only ate dry food so I thought she had not been exposed to the tainted food.

I swear, this cat could talk. And was great at playing games.
No way can he be replaced or compinsated for.
The vet bills, the cage he was in, the box that his remains were returned to us in. All said Peanut Hardy.
He was a very dear member of the family,
To the younger kids, this is the same has when grandpa died last year.

Tash had just celebrated her 18th birthday. She was in great health. The prettiest party colored cocker. She ate 4 brands of food, and all four are recalled. Putting her down was the single most painful thing I have ever done. I miss her so. I feel awful knowing I am the one who fed her the very thing that made her sick. I will never buy another product from menu foods. My sweet baby girl i am so sorry and love ya very much. Dr.C her vet said there are 5 other families in her pratice that the food is suspect. I called the 866 number for menu, and the person I talked to was as helpful as a flat tire. My heart goes out to all here and everyone else who has had to deal with this tradgey.

Bart came to us as a stray when he was 1 year old. I nurtured him into a wonderful loving kitty. He was a healthy 4 year old black kitty. He suddenly took ill after eating Companion catfood and Sofistocat. He sudden developed kidney problems and had to be euthanized in 7 days. He was a talker and our home is so very quiet without him. This was a painful way for our animals to die. I will pray for all who have lost their loving companions. My heart is breaking along with yours.

My heart go's out to you all. I know how much are pet's mean to us all. They truely are apart of are familys. And to loose a loved one like this is so sad. I hope that you all find some peace and know that many people out there fell for you. You are all in are thought's and prey's. » click to enlarge « I had to put my kitty companion of 14 yrs to sleep on 3/12/07, before they announced about the tainted food. 2 days before she had started showing signs of not feeling well. A few days before that I had fed her Special Kitty tuna in a pouch as a treat. Her health went downhill so quickly, by the time I got her to the vet on Mon. , she was in shock and almost dead. The vet said she was suffering from chronic renal failure. I couldn't bear to see her suffer so I made the decision to let her go. I miss her so much and this ongoing investigation makes it so hard to get over the pain. I hope the people responsible pay dearly for what they have done to all pet owners and pets who have had to suffer through this.

We are still clinging to hope that our cat of 6 years will pull through. He is described as in "Cronic renal failure". After eating too many of the recalled foods to count, we took him into the vet after he exibited the same symtems everyone else on the board has seen. We now take him in every other day for fluids and are fortunate to have the time and money to take care of him but we don't have the heart to put him down. He's lost over 1/3 of his body mass and continues to loose weight. He does not appear to be suffering but I know he is. If you are reading this than you have an idea of what we are going through. » click to enlarge « This is Coach, he is Preciou's brother, we got him on 3/1/07. He was so loveable, he gave a ton of kisses and lover our golden copper, he was fitting in very nicely. We gave Coach the same food as Precious because I bought a 24 case of it, and the company said it was 110% ok. We drew blood right away to make sure he was ok, we got our results on Monday 3/5/07, by then it was to late, he was already in acute renal failure, he was 3lbs, and the most beautiful little guy. We could not believe this was happening again, we had to put Coach down on 3/6/07. Now we are very sad but also very angry, this should have never happened, and now we are without a kitten, we hope that one day we will have another but this was just to much to bear for my children. I hope that this company and companies associtaed pay for what they have done. We miss you coach and love you

» click to enlarge « This is Precious she was a new Ragdoll kitten, we purchased her on 2/20/07, for our daughter for a birthday present. On 2/21/07 we started feeding her Eukanuba cuts with savory gravy, she was sick by the weekend on 2/26/07 she was in acute renal failure. On 2/27/06 we had to put our little precious down she was only 2.6 lbs and the light of my kids life even if it was a short time we grew very attached to her, and we miss her. I then got a new kitten from same breeder a male this time his story is to follow on next entry. RIP Precious we love and miss you.
